The 2008 Application Process is Now Closed

The Advances in Psoriasis Research Grant Programme has been established by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals to support a greater understanding of the inflammatory pathogenesis of psoriasis and TNF-related skin disorders. It has been set up specifically to encourage and support research in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and is restricted to these areas.

The proposed research project should be designed to meet all local institutional and national regulations and be GCP and/or GLP compliant but does not need ethics approval in advance.

The intellectual property associated with the work supported by the Advances in Psoriasis Research Programme will, depending on local law, be owned by the investigator and/or institution, however, Wyeth will be granted an option to license any discoveries.

The results of the research may be published, however, Wyeth may review the manuscript prior to publication for accuracy and to protect intellectual property and/or, where relevant, proprietary data of Wyeth.

The principal investigator will need to sign a standard contract with Wyeth to release the grant.

There will be a total of six grants each worth EURO 100,000.

A study proposal form needs to be completed in English and returned via the website before 29 February 2008. Successful applicants will be informed in May/June 2008 and the grant will be provided in stages. 60% will be awarded at the project start in 2008 and 30% in 2009 and 10% on study report. It is expected that the project will be completed by December 2009.

The expert panel of international leaders in dermatology will adjudicate on the successful applications based on the innovative nature of the proposed project and robust scientific rationale. All applications will be blinded at the judging stage.

The applications will also be reviewed by the medical department within Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for suitability for funding to ensure that there is no potential overlap with previous or ongoing research projects.
